Good news for the environment comes from the Conference on Climate and Forests, a conference to be held these days in Oslo, Norway. Rich countries have decided to increase funding to combat deforestation.
The funds will be increased to $ 4 billion, which is 500 million more than what had been agreed at the Copenhagen summit on climate change that took place a few months ago. This increase in funding is to help the environment to increase tree planting and more.
The funds coming from the United States, Norway, Japan, the United Kingdom, France and Australia, were added to funds provided by Germany and Denmark.
Deforestation is the cutting of trees in a forest, an operation that if done excessively and without a plan to protect the environment and forests can make a lot of damage to the environment and humans. Among the negative effects of deforestation is desertification, erosion and landslides.
